After the uprising: the ban, the election and the plot case
What followed the July 2024 uprising: the interim government’s ban on the Awami League’s activities in May 2025, the plot-allocation corruption verdict against Sheikh Hasina and her niece, British MP Tulip Siddiq, in December 2025, and the February 2026 election that made Tarique Rahman prime minister. Those convicted denied the charges.
